OUR CLASSES

Each student is closely evaluated by the faculty and director.  There is a syllabus for each class that the faculty follows. While each class description gives a age/grade level, these ages/grades are a general guideline and students do not automatically move up to the next level according to age/grade listed or the amount of years that they have studied dance.  They must be able to execute proper technique of each movement for that level before moving to the next level.  It is extremely important that dancers are placed in a level that is appropriate for them, as frustration and even injury may occur.

Tiny Toes & Tutus (Toddler & Up)

Our Tiny Toes & Tutus class is a non-recital performing class that gives our little ones their first experience in a dance class setting.  During this 30-minute creative movement class, our students will learn to control movement while being introduced to basic ballet technique.  The little ones think they are playing games while actually learning stretching positions, hand and arm placement and turnout.  During this class they also begin to develop self confidence to stand in class without Mom or Dad and follow simple dance combinations.

Preschool Combo (Ages 3 - 4)

Our Preschool Combo class is a 45-minute ballet / tap combo class.  During this class, students will learn proper ballet and tap techniques, basic dance terminology and focus on choreography memorization, self confidence and focus.

Beginner Combo (Grades K - 1)

Our Beginner Combo class is a 60-minute ballet / tap combo class.  During this class, students will build upon their experience, continue their ballet and tap technique, learn additional dance terminology.  The choreography will feature simple to moderate dance combinations, switching levels while continuing to build confidence and focus.

Hip Hop (Primary - Senior Levels)

Our Hip-Hop classes incorporate old and new urban dance styles and represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music.  Students will learn improvisation, jumps, and rotations with age appropriate choreography.

Classical Ballet (Level 1 & 2)

Students who are on pointe must take ballet class in addition to the pointe class. Readiness for pointe work is determined by each student's strength and physical development, not by their age. The instructor will advise parents when a student has the necessary strength and maturity to go on pointe. Pointe class may be taken only with the permission of the instructor.

DD Theater Company (Grades 2+)

Our theater program is open to students wishing to participate in stage productions throughout the year. Students audition for roles and prepare rehearsals while developing their ability to perform. Vocal training, dance choreography as well as individual coaching are supplied throughout the months leading up to the performance. Some of our past productions have included our Aladdin, The Wizard of Oz, and Annie.

Competition Dance Teams (Grades 2+)

Any student wishing to further their growth as performers are welcome to train and participate in competitions as well as various local and regional events. Approved studio attire is required at all events. Any fees or costs associated with competitions and events are the responsibility of the student. All team students (ages 8+) must be enrolled in at least 2 ballet classes. Complex choreography will be showcased at performance events.  Advanced level groups will be selected by the choreographer based on the student's ability and stage presence in that particular dance style.  In addition to competitions, our dance teams have trained with the Radio City Rockettes in New York City, Belly Queen Dance Theater, Stars Dance Company and renowned professional choreographers throughout the world. We have performed in the Main Street Parade and on stage in Disney World, center court for the Boston Celtics, Providence Bruins, and Brockton Rox in addition to working with several charitable events raising several thousand dollars as part of our studio's “Dance for a Difference” mission.
